Over the moon to announce that one of my images received the award of “Highly Commended” in the Take a View – Landscape Photographer of the Year 2016 awards. I submitted several images and out of those several images one image got shortlisted. I was extremely pleased to get that far to be honest as this was my first ever competition I had entered.
Yesterday I received the news that the same image was awarded the Highly Commended title. All of the images chosen by the judges will be displayed at an exhibition at London’s Waterloo Station. Running from 21st November until the 5th February 2017. It will also be published in the book – Landscape Photographer of the Year: Collection 10. Which is published on October 24th by acclaimed landscape photographer Charlie Waite.
Taken in the Peak District National Park from Hitter Hill near Earl Sterndale, looking out over towards Parkhouse & Chrome Hills back in March 2016. I recall the day well. We had a few brief days of snow and I had been out for sunrise that same day on Ramshaw Rocks. By mid-morning I decided to visit this location, I have shot it before so I knew the route well. No sooner had I set up my equipment a short few minutes later and some lovely light passed over Parkhouse Hill.
I decided to crop the image to a 2:1 ratio because there was no detail in the sky, and processed in Adobe Lightroom with some sharpening in Photoshop.
